Distraction

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects at least 6% of the population, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood neurodevelopmental disorders. This animation aims to spark conversation and shed light on the reality of living with ADHD.

One of the most recognizable symptoms—distraction—is relatively easy to visualize, making it a good starting point. But ADHD goes far beyond that. It touches every corner of a person’s life, from the moments we laugh at ourselves to the days that feel overwhelming and unmanageable.

For me, ADHD shapes every day. Some days, I can complete every task on my list. Other days, I struggle just to get through the essentials, with no energy left to care for myself. It's a rollercoaster of functioning that isn't always visible from the outside.

ADHD is an invisible disability, often misunderstood or dismissed. Although it’s a condition someone is born with, it frequently goes undiagnosed until adulthood—especially for people from visual minority groups, who face additional barriers to recognition and support.

My hope is that more projects like this will help reduce stigma, increase understanding, and inspire compassion for those navigating life with ADHD.
